The Monad
(Artículo en Castellano: La Mónada)
The Monad is the state prior to fragmentation
In therapeutic terms, the Monad is not a metaphysical entity.
It is the inner state in which the person is not yet divided against themselves.
It is the point where:
-
there is no inner conflict,
-
there is no struggle between parts,
-
there is no judgment about what is being felt,
-
there is no strategy for survival.
Put another way,
the Monad is the Self before trauma, before adaptation, before the persona.
It is not something that can be constructed.
It is something that is remembered when defenses cease.
The Monad in therapeutic language
The Monad represents the capacity to remain in feeling without narrating it.
It is the inner point where experience can be lived without fragmentation.
It involves:
-
not interpreting,
-
not explaining,
-
not understanding,
-
not fixing.
Only feeling, while staying in contact with what is.
In Primal therapy, this state may manifest when:
-
the body trembles spontaneously,
-
emotion emerges without an associated story,
-
the mind runs out of resources to maintain control.
That emptiness which appears is not absence.
It is total presence without form, prior to explanation and narrative.
The parts of the psychic system
From a therapeutic perspective, what surrounds the Monad are the parts of the psychic system:
-
the wounded child,
-
the protector,
-
the controller,
-
the adapter,
-
the caregiver,
-
the one who disconnects,
-
the one who fights.
In Constellations, these parts:
-
are not mistakes,
-
are not pathologies,
-
are intelligent responses to an early disorder.
The problem is not that they exist.
The true imbalance appears when they lose contact with the center, with that inner point of presence from which everything can be reordered again.
The rupture: when the Monad is lost
In Primal therapy and Family Constellations, trauma can be understood as a loss of the center.
Trauma appears when:
-
the system needs to fragment in order to survive.
Then:
-
the child stops feeling,
-
strategy appears,
-
love is interrupted,
-
presence contracts.
The Monad does not disappear.
It remains hidden behind defenses.
Therapeutic work
(Returning to the center, not fixing the parts)
There is a key point that connects the entire therapeutic process:
❌ The work is not to “heal parts.”
✅ The work is to restore contact with the center.
When the center reappears:
-
the parts organize themselves,
-
tension falls away,
-
identity relaxes,
-
the system stops fighting itself.
This is inner systemic order.
The Monad and the Field of Consciousness
In Family Constellations, the Field does not “do things.”
The Field:
-
remembers,
-
orders,
-
reveals,
-
returns what was excluded.
The Monad is the inner point from which the Field can act.
When a person:
-
stops searching,
-
stops asking,
-
stops trying to understand,
-
stops fighting,
👉 the Field enters what many people call:
-
surrender,
-
yielding,
-
presence,
-
“something ordered itself.”
The “true name” of the Monad
(therapeutic key)
In deep therapy, the “true name” of the Monad is not a word.
It is that moment when the person can feel what they feel without separating from themselves.
That is the name… the access… the “object.”
That is why it cannot be bought, cannot be taught, cannot be transmitted.
It can only be recognized.
Direct translation into Primal
In Primal therapy, the Monad often appears:
-
just before authentic crying (or just after),
-
when the body rests,
-
when there is no narrative,
-
when there is no demand placed on the other.
It is the moment when the child stops asking,
because they are already being felt.
Therapeutic phrase
“I don’t need to understand myself in order to be whole.
When I stop running from what I feel, something within me orders itself.”
